participant resolver

Winshuttle Foundation has 15 different Participant Resolvers and now Automate Evolve has only 3 types of Participant Resolvers. How do they translate?

What are Participant resolvers? They are swimlane properties that define how swimlanes assign an activity node or approval nodes.

Evolve Participant Resolvers

Where to find assignees:

  1. ADGroup: Uses an Active Directory Security Group to find assignees.
    • Type Person from Role.
    • Type Team from Role.
  2. DataConnection: Uses a Data Connection to find assignees.
    • Connection Name is mandatory.
    • Column is mandatory.
  3. SolutionFields: Uses Solution Fields within the solution to find assignees.
    • Form field promote to a Solution field.
    • Column is set with Solution field and is mandatory.

Evolve Participant Resolver Arguments

The main difference between Foundation and Automate Evolve is how and where you set up the Data Connections.

How to find assignees:

  1. Foundation
    • Select Participant Resolver from one of the 15 types from the drop-down list for each swimlane.
    • Then the Participant Resolver Arguments are configured based on the selection.
  2. Automate Evolve
    • The data connections are set up in the Solution section under Data Connections one time.
      • Note: When creating Data Connections for a PR, always set to async by unchecking Automatically retrieve data when form is opened. Only use those fields which are used on the form.
    • Select the Participant Resolver from one of the 3 types from the drop-down list for each swimlane.
    • Then the Participant Resolver Arguments are configured based on the selection.

The advantage is you only have to set up the connection one time and it can be used multiple times and places in the solution form and workflow.
