Help! As an Admin and Originator, I cannot reassign tasks back to myself?
Precisely created Compliance Check for Originator Approval to further strengthen SOX compliance for processes created with Automate Evolve. The compliance check ensures that an originator is unable to approve their own tasks (unless by solution design).
Compliance check key values:
The administration app workflow setting called “ComplianceCheck” key will implement this compliance check. The key has two values:
- Value: 1 (Default) – Originators will not be reassigned to their own tasks.
- Value: 0 – The Compliance Check feature is turned off.
Scenarios that will be checked for compliance:
Approval type tasks cannot be reassigned to the originator from task assignment features such as:
- Workflow Participant Control
- Process Control
- Excel Add-in Reassignment
- Standard Workflows
- Out of Office Delegation
The Automate Evolve admin is the originator:
User cannot Complete, Approve, Reject, and/or Reassign a process’s open assignments from the Edit Assignment page. They can perform these actions on their own open tasks, from the My Tasks page. They cannot change future assignments of this process from the Edit Assignment page. They cannot Reassign a process’s open assignments from the Operation -> Tasks Page. They can however perform that action on their own open tasks, from the My Tasks page.
Recommendation on when to turn off ComplianceCheck:
Developer is set up as admin and originator testing workflow in a non-production system. This speeds up testing workflow development by allowing the originator (developer) to reassign current and future tasks back to themselves eliminating the need for additional tester.
Special Notes:
- If the admin is an originator, they can still Force Approve or Force Reject processes, not the individual tasks.
- If the admin is not the process originator, they can reassign a process open to anyone.
- Out of office delegation can cause an error when delegated user is the originator.
