Moen, the number one faucet brand in North America, continually launches new products. From idea to production, that entails numerous capital requests that must first be submitted for approval. The requests are eventually recorded into Moen’s SAP ERP transactional system of record.
Key Challenges
Moen’s SAP landscape runs a single, global SAP ERP instance for nearly every line of business. This includes supply chain, sales, service and manufacturing. As the landscape matured, its paper-based capital expense request (CER) process was quickly becoming an outlier from the company’s increasingly streamlined and automated business processes. The key challenges faced were:
Email and paper-based manual capital expense request (CER) routing
Overseas manufacturing facility requests were mailed to U.S. corporate headquarters for approval
No traceability or visibility into status of requests
Results
CPS and Moen conducted a thorough business value assessment inclusive of SharePoint. In addition, a thorough process lifecycle analysis to determine whether other SAP transactions might benefit from similar automation was also conducted. After dissecting the results, Moen decided to purchase and implement Winshuttle’s workflow solutions. Moen created a transparent chain of approval system for all expenditure requests. Additionally, they identified several other manual business processes to merge onto the Winshuttle platform.
Benefits in time and effort saved were made clear as soon as the first capital expense request on Winshuttle went through the approval process. Moen now has complete visibility into the CER process. This project qualified how rapidly Moen could not only automate a process with SAP integration, but also began qualifying resource requirements to automate existing processes. Moen now has the platform needed to help manage their data and business process workflows. The platform has an intuitive, easy-to-use front end, while at the same time updates SAP ERP.
